The Rijksmuseum is the National museum of the Netherlands. After a big renovation, it is now more beautiful than ever! The museum will take you back in time and you will learn a lot about Dutch history.
In the Gallery of Honour, you will admire the masterpieces of the prestigious and famous Dutch painters from the 17th century, also known as the Golden Century. For instance Rembrandt (The Nightswatch), Vermeer (The Milkmaid), Frans Hals and Jan Steen are to be seen in this gallery.
But the Rijksmuseum has more to offer than just the Gallery of Honour. There are 80 rooms with over 8000 paintings and objects (such as blue porcelain) on 4 different floors.
In short, if you are visiting Amsterdam, the Rijksmuseum is a must-see in your program!
It is possible to visit the Rijksmuseum with a guide of Amsterdam à la Carte.
The museum is open every day from 9am until 5pm.
