(English and/or Dutch).
We had two days of tours with Marieke, one of central Amsterdam, the other of restored, operational windmills just outside of Amsterdam (when Marieke picked us up in her own car – a convertible, no less). Marieke has a spring in her step, and an enthusiasm for her City. In a comfortable pace, she laced the sights and the history with humor, casual conversation, and quick respites for a sandwich in a small café and for pickled herring from a street vendor. She helped us pick restaurants, gave us ideas of other things to do, provided us with tickets to the Riks Museum, and made us feel like we had a friend we could call upon when and if needed. She knows her stuff and does a great job.
